What is a Prosthodontist?

A prosthodontist is a dentist who is trained in the specialty branch of dentistry focused on the diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of patients with dental conditions such as:

  • Missing teeth

  • Excessively worn or broken teeth

  • An esthetically displeasing smile

  • A general inability to adequately chew food properly.

Prosthodontics is one of 9 dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA). Prosthodontists receive 3 years of rigorous advanced training in addition to their dental degree.
